Terms of Service

Plain-language terms for using SyntheticPic. Last updated: June 2025.

Who we are

SyntheticPic is operated by OMU SAS, a French simplified joint-stock company registered at 2 rue Jacquard, 93100 Montreuil, France (SIREN 103147971, TVA FR54103147971). "We", "us", and "our" refer to OMU SAS throughout these Terms.

Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using SyntheticPic you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. We may update these Terms at any time — continued use after a posted change constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days in advance.

The service

SyntheticPic trains a private AI face model from selfies you upload, then uses that model to generate studio-quality portrait images in the styles you choose. Your model is stored on our servers and is accessible only to you. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service (or any feature) with reasonable notice.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use SyntheticPic. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Notify us immediately at hello@ohmyunicorn.com if you suspect unauthorised access. One account per person — you may not create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit consent.

Acceptable use

You may use SyntheticPic only for lawful purposes. You must not:

Upload photos of other people without their explicit, informed consent.
Generate content that is defamatory, obscene, or harassing.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract our AI models.
Use the service to create synthetic media intended to deceive (deepfakes used for fraud, misinformation, non-consensual intimate imagery, etc.).
Resell or sublicense access to the service without written authorisation from us.
Use automated scripts or bots to access the service at scale without prior agreement.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules without prior notice.

Payments and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually in advance. All prices are shown in Euros, inclusive of applicable VAT where required by French law. Payments are processed by Stripe. You may cancel at any time from your account settings; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial periods unless required by law.

Your content and intellectual property

Your uploads: You retain all rights to photos you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to process those photos for the sole purpose of training your personal model and providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your photos and do not use them to train any shared or third-party model.

Generated portraits: You own the portrait images generated by your personal model. You may use them for any lawful purpose — commercial or personal — without restriction. You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with applicable law (including personality rights and image rights).

Our IP: The SyntheticPic platform, software, models, and design are owned by OMU SAS. Nothing in these Terms transfers any rights to our intellectual property to you.

Data and privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains in full how we collect, store, and process your personal data — including your selfies and generated portraits — in accordance with the GDPR and French data-protection law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OMU SAS is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of (or inability to use) SyntheticPic. Our total cumulative liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury, or fraud caused by our negligence or wilful misconduct.

Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably shall be referred to the competent courts of Paris, France, unless mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence provides otherwise. As a consumer in the EU you may also use the European Commission's online dispute-resolution platform.
