Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about training your private AI portrait model and generating studio-quality photos.
- How many selfies do I need to upload?
- Upload between 8 and 20 photos. More is better, but quality matters more than quantity. Use photos taken in different lighting conditions, from multiple angles, and with varying facial expressions. Avoid heavily filtered or cropped images — natural, well-lit photos where your face is clearly visible give the best results.
- How long does training take?
- Training typically completes in 10–20 minutes. You can leave the page and come back — we send you a notification (and the status shows in your dashboard) when your model is ready. Training only happens once per set of photos; after that, every generation is instant.
- What style packs are available?
- Every pack includes five styles: Corporate Headshot (boardroom-ready executive look), LinkedIn Portrait (warm, approachable, profile-ready), Outdoor Adventure (natural light and scenic backdrops), Black & White Studio (dramatic, editorial monochrome), and Cyberpunk (bold neon-future aesthetic). Additional style packs are added regularly at no extra cost.
- Is my face data private?
- Yes. Your selfies are used only to train your personal model — they are stored securely and never shared with other users or used to train any shared model. Your face model is identity-locked: it generates portraits of your face only. You stay in control: deleting a model from My Models is immediate and permanent, and removes the model, your training photos, and the face data derived from them. Generated portraits stay in your gallery until you delete them. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
- How many portraits do I get?
- It depends on the pack: Essential includes 40 portraits, Pro includes 100, and Studio includes 200. If you need more, add 50 portraits for €9 at any time — no need to buy a whole new pack.
- Do my portraits or my balance expire?
- No. Once you buy a pack, your portrait balance and your trained model stay available for as long as your account exists — there's no monthly reset and no expiry date to race against.
- What makes this different from other AI photo tools?
- Most AI photo tools generate fictional people or apply filters to existing photos. SyntheticPic trains a dedicated model on your face, so every portrait it generates is actually you — not a lookalike. The result is portrait-studio accuracy rather than a stylised approximation.
- What AI technology does SyntheticPic use?
- Every customer gets a custom Flux LoRA — a private adaptation of a state-of-the-art image model, trained individually on your photos with dedicated compute. In plain terms: the system spends real GPU time learning your face's actual geometry, instead of applying a filter or steering a generic shared model with a prompt. There are no shared models. And before any portrait reaches your gallery, an automated identity check scores it against your training photos — so what you see actually looks like you.
- Can I use the generated portraits professionally?
- Yes. Generated portraits are yours to use for any purpose — LinkedIn profiles, company websites, press kits, email signatures, social media, and more. You own the output. Review our Terms of Service for the full license.
- What image formats do you accept for upload?
- JPEG, PNG, and WebP are all supported. Maximum file size per image is 10 MB. Photos taken on a modern smartphone are ideal — no special camera equipment needed.
- Can I train multiple models?
- Yes. The Studio pack includes 2 trained models, which is useful if you want different training sets (e.g. formal vs. casual selfies) or want to train models for two different people on a shared account. On the Essential and Pro packs you can retrain over your existing model any time for €9.
- Is there a subscription I need to cancel?
- No. SyntheticPic packs are a one-time purchase — there's no recurring charge, no billing cycle, and nothing to cancel. You pay once, and your portraits and model balance stay usable for as long as your account exists.
- What if I don't like the results?
- Training quality depends heavily on the selfies you provide — follow the guidance on the upload screen for best results. If you have a technical issue (model failed to train, generation error), contact support at hello@ohmyunicorn.com and we'll investigate.
